egr valve/ no acceleration

my 2004 ford escape  won't accelerate  over 40
mp3 and the egr valve keep either blowing a hole
or blowing apart

Too much exhaust back pressure, might be a bad catalyst and or muffler, I have even seem pipes separate and collapse internally.
