Intermediate Noise After CV Axle Replacement

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Today, I allowed my friend to change my cv axle.
He's rebuilt engines, transmissions, a/c systems,
etc, so I trusted his work.

Disassembly went fine. Assembly wasn't so
smooth.. He repeatedly had to beat the shaft into
the transmission thinking it wasn't fitting...later to
find out it was going in just fine... After that, no
problems.

Took the car for a test drive and ALL previous
symptoms stopped: slight vibration at 75+mph,
clunking from P to R, popping noise at low speeds
with brake pressure applied, and popping noises
when turned the steering wheel..

HOWEVER, around 3K rpm, the car gets loud. Not a
grinding noise, but a grumble that has never been
there. Almost sounds exhaust related.

I've sat here all night trying to figure this out
because I have A LOT of traveling to this fall.

Now, that I'm thinking about it, they jacked my car
up somewhere under the engine bay with a large
jack. Think it could have broken some slight seal
somewhere along the exhaust due to an improper
mounting place??

PLEASE HELP ME. I have way to much imoportant
traveling I have to do. I'm desperate.
