2004 BMW 325i

My brake pads are completely worn
out on my back left tire. Loud grinding
noises while driving and then all of a
sudden my engine shut off. Does my
grinding brakes have anything to do
with engine shutting off? The car
starts up but then slowly dies after 5
seconds...

The worn brakes don't have anything to do with the engine shutting off. It just sounds like you are not keeping up with the maintenance.

Agreed, you need to be on top of things with this car, they don't like to be neglected. Do you have a check engine light? The best place to start is to check for codes.
