Engine light stays on (emissions)

Asked by Feb 23, 2019 at 11:48 AM about the 2010 Ford Escape Limited AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Thinking about buying a 2010 Escape Limited (Illinois) Owner says The engine
light stays on and his service department says it has to do with Emissions
(codes P0457 and PO446.  Owner told me he has driven the vehicle for three
years like this and it runs fine. Should I be hesitant to but this vehicle because
of this.  Any help appreciated, thanks.

This is one of the stupidest car owners I've ever heard of. Why would you even consider buying a car in this condition from a person who is obviously trying to defraud you? If you can get this car for $500, it might leave you enough to fix it; and I'd suspect that there is far more wrong with the car than you've seen.
