aftre i change my tranny fluid on my 2010 chevy cobalt do i need to start it before checking it

Yes, you always put what is recommend in the tranny and then start it, set the park brake and hold your foot on the brake strt it and run it through the gears slowly, reverse, neutral, drive and then put it park into park and check the fluid level, it should be at least midway in the hash marks on the stick.
