Have a 2008 Astra and seemed to suddenly blow a lot of blue smoke. Probably a head gasket failure or valve seal of piston rings... in what order or process can I identify what is the problem.

Asked by May 15, 2018 at 10:15 PM about the 2008 Saturn Astra XE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was about to shift to 3 gear when I heard a bang as something  broke in
the engine, and lots blue smoke starting coming out. Fortunately close to
my home so I nursed it back. Idling rough and bluesh white smoke coming
out.  Can I try a liquid to seal the head gasket?  any steps to diagnostic if it
is valve gasket at intake, bad seals or craked case.  Thank you much for
help and advice. It is a five speed btw.
