Why is My Avalon Leaking Oil at the Bank two seal?
I recently took my 2008 Toyota Avalon to the dealer for a check engine light and they told me that the timing gear was failing. This repair cost some $3,500.00 and the car had only 42,000 miles on it. When I got the car home I smelled oil burning so I took it back a few days later but they found nothing but a steering column leak. I had them to replace that costing $900.00 and they said the oil leak was noted on a bank two seal and would cost an additional $1,900.00. For a car with less than 50K miles on it I expected better and probably could have bought a new engine for less.
'Bank two' seal sounds like a made up name to me for maybe something common? Have a local independent garage look over the car, will probably save you money in the long run.
