How to know if the ECU is bad on truck?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How can you "sort of" know if the ECU is bad. I
have a 2007 (07.5) Chevy Silverado 1500 and I'm
having them problems: transmission is not wanting
to shift, when trans does shift it it jerks, odometer
sometimes stays at 0 and doesn't move up and
when it does this the trans does not shift into 2nd.
I have replaced the VSS and the ignition harness
hoping those would fix it, but did not. Took it to the
dealer and they said one of the 4 modules (or
more) are not working. Either the ECM, TCTCM,
EBCM, or FICM. However, I am thinking its the ECU
module and I am thinking of replacing it first. If I
replace the ECU and does not fix the problem,
where should I go next as far as replacing a
module? Thanks in advance.
