2002 Ford Explorer Starting Issue
My (manual) 2002 Ford Explorer two door Sport started having an issue. The car after long road trips or when in high environmental heat (it seems) will not easily turn back on after cutting the engine. It will turn over, the engine will catch slightly and struggle, dials will go bonkers and then die after a few seconds, try again after a few hours and then it will always turnover fine after a long wait. It seems to only happen on long road trips or in hot temperatures. It has happened a couple of times driving around locally in short commutes. Nothing happens when the car is on, only when I turn the engine off do I face the issue of it might not turning on again immediately after a short break, such a gasing up. It's very random, weeks or a month without incident. The check engine light will switch between on and off for long periods. Battery and alternator were replaced about a year ago.
