2003 camry v6
So my a/c and power steer belt was in bad shape. I
went to replace it and i noticed my negitive battery
terminal was corroded. So i decided to use hot
water to wash that away and cleaned up the
terminals. As i finished up with replacing the belt, i
went to start it and it would stay running... it turns
over but wont stay running unless i hold the gas
pedal down.. any suggestions or ideas...
Washed with water? I suspect you got some other electrical plug or component wet. Is the battery cable dry?
Yeah hot water washes away corrosion.. i dried of the terminals and wires.. i have done that many times and never had a problem..
Did you perhaps disconnect that corroded battery terminal to clean it? Any warning lights on or flashing when the engine is running?
Yeah cleaned the terminal i cleaned everything. I ended up cleaning up the throttle body and idle air control and it brought it back to idle. Seems to be good now.. very weird tho..thanks guys!
Very Good. I suspect after all that cleaning....the Computer for this vehicle needed to go through a "Re-Learn" process in order to bring her back to normal. Good Job.
