How do I remove the ignition key cylinder from the alloy assembly?

I've removed the airbag, steering wheel, and made it to the (2) torks screws
holding the aluminum alloy assembly in place. After several hours I still can't
get the cylinder out of the aluminum assembly. Is there a trick to this? I even cut
off the plastic protector ring that keeps all the wires in the right place.
