2007 pontiac grand prix

Asked by Aug 26, 2017 at 01:54 PM about the 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Will not go into 1st gear after sitting all night, I have to crank it and let it sit for 10 minutes or so before it will drive and shift into 1st gear. After it goes into 1st, I don't have a problem at all after that. Please help! :) Is it worth fixing?

This sounds like your having the typical shift solenoid problem that everyone is having when the tranny gets a little age on it, a good tranny shop can verify with a stand alone test platform and let you know for sure. As fas as is it worth it, the choice is really yours, it is an obsolete vehicle but does use the same drivetrain as other GM models, so even if it needed a transmission that would not be an issue. If it was mine I would go ahead and fix it and not go into debt for another car, but that's just me, I rarely get bored with my vehicles and tend to keep them well into 200K range.

Thank you, I will get it looked at! Glad its not something REAL expensive!
