Front diff

Asked by Jun 02, 2017 at 01:18 PM about the 1996 Chevrolet Blazer 4 Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 96 blazer manual 4wd with a bad front diff.
The only replacement with the same gear ratio is
from a 98 blazer with push button 4wd. I can
already see the axles are not connected to the
differential the same way. The 96 has 6 bolts per
side and the 98 has none. Looks like the axle goes
from the hub straight into the differential with no
disconnect in between. Will this setup work if I
swap axles?
