How to resolve a GM vat system problem?

My 98 chevy cavalier has always been
dependable. Until last month when the
ignition cylinder lock needed to be
replaced. Since then the Gm vat
system has kept my cavalier from
starting by interupting the gasoline
flow .
NOTE: my original ignition keys were
simple metal keys w/ no chip on the
keys!  And the keys to the new ignition
cylinder lock doesnt seem to have
chips on them. Although the end of the
keys are encased in a black key cover.
So i cant be sure.

Yes they are chipped, the dealer will have to reprogram the system to reconise the new key and tumbler system.
