Noise then shut down

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2002 1500 4.7 Ram was making a ticking
sound. It would only sound when acceleration
occurred or the car was just starting up. Then the
oil gauge would go up and down. I was driving it
and the whole truck shut down after not
accelerating and it made a small sound. The
sterling wheel locked and oil just poured
everywhere. I got it towed to my house and it
would start for beans. I took the air flow off, began
to look at some of the plugs to see if oil was in the
spark plugs, but didn't find anything. I then took the
geo uh ND wire off to clean the battery ports.
Before doing this there was a red blinking light on
the dash board that I have never seen before. After
doing these things, the blinking red light stopped.
The truck started right up but sounds bad ( like no
oil in it and metal touching metal sound)... I was
wondering I'd I should replaced the oil pump and
oil pan before looking into the lifters. .everyone
keeps recommending this solution that you pour
into the engine and do a 10-20 minute idle cycle for
a few hours and it will repair itself. Any clues?
Really looking for someone to walk me through
these repairs. I am not a mechanic but I can fix
basically anything
