Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Working on my friends 93 ford f350 powerstroke 7.3 turbo. We did a trans fluid
and filter change, also added some lucas. Truck is not wanting to shift now. Any
ideas or pointers? Fluid is exactly topped off where it should be. No trans fluid
is leaking. Is the trans shot,?

It could be the trans control module. Try unhook battery then hook back up turn the key to on position then off then on position again should reset compute temporary. If it does it's probably trans control module

The old trans fluid was as black as motor oil, if this helps get any ideas. Truck shifts hard into second and doesnt want to shift out of second

Would it be worth it to drop the valve body and clean it?

I still think trans module it tells trans to shift into second and third. And will shift hard into second it might have lost the codes. Try Google problem it has helped me with plenty of problems. Hope this helps rob

Did the seal come out with the old filter or stay in? I've had many stay up there and if you don't notice you'll end up with 2 seals in there and it sucks air and won't act right if pull at all

Yup made sure the old seal was removed and madr sure the new filter was properly secured
