what does the engine light mean that says service engine soon?

The PCM (computer) has detected a problem with one of the engine's operating systems. Visit your local auto parts store and ask them to scan the computer and give you the trouble code(s) that are stored inside. Post the codes you get and we can help further. Most stores will do it for free. HTH. -Jim
