2004 trailblazer  4x4 wont shift from 3rd to 4th was told
could be senor is that true

A sensor should set a check engine light, if no light doubtful it is a sensor, however these do have problems with shift solenoids just sticking and they normally won't set a code but will cause the symptom you have. A tranny shop can plug in and run separate tests on the solenoids and the TCM also internal pressures then they can tell you what it will take to fix it.
