Cruise Control Dash Panel Light

Asked by Jan 06, 2017 at 09:47 PM about the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I tap the brakes what would cause
the Cruise Control Dash Panel Light to
light up green then upon release goes
right back out... Cruise control does not
and has not due to a spent Clock Spring.
This started little over a month ago and
for what it's worth right after the vehicle
was loaned..

Sounds like a problem with either the brake light switch or the cruise control cut out switch. Both are located at the top of the brake pedal assembly. You can also check to make sure you don't have a burned out brake light bulb. On my '93 Caprice (different car, I know) if the third brake light bulb burned out the cruise control would not work. Just a thought. HTH. - Jim
