1995 Lexus LS400 died for third time at stop light

Asked by BobWolf Nov 14, 2016 at 08:44 PM about the 1995 Lexus LS 400 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1995 Lexus LS400 shut down at a stop light.  It restarted after putting it in
park and restarting and seems to run fine.  This is the third time this has
occurred in five years.  Is it electrical? computer? Fuel pump? Help??

Found the problem. The cause of my 1995 Lexus LS400 just cutting out without warning and running rough while decelerating around 40mph was the FUEL PUMP AND THE SENDING UNIT. Took it too my local Toyota dealer who had a tech who was Lexus trained and we isolated the problem to the fuel pump. He replaced the fuel pump and sending unit for about $1200. Car runs so much better at all speeds. Feels like new again. Hope this helps you other folks who could not find the solution. Happy New Year!
