Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The truck will go in reverse fine, but at every stop
the transmission acts like it's in neutral. I have to
rev the engine to get it to go into gear, it slams into
first. (2500-3000 rpms) And it goes through all the
rest of the gears fine. Until i stop at a light,
intersection etc. then the process restarts. Put new
filter and fluid and still same issue. a couple of
times it stalled when trying to engage into 1st from
a stop.

No promises trying this but add some Lucas Transmission Stop Slip and see if that helps like I said no promises but it is worth a try.

Make sure the fluid is at the correct level. And make sure the filter is seated correctly and that the old gasket is not still in the hole after they removed the old filter. Problem sounds like an internal leak (loss of pressaure) in the transmission. But if the fluid is low. It could cause this issue and if the gasket(o-ring) is still in there from the old filter the transmission could be sucking air.
