Horn & Stereo

Asked by Jul 31, 2017 at 05:38 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Ext Cab Short Bed 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 5.3 gas engine. It's an automatic
4x4 with extended cab. I bought the truck used a couple of months ago. It
has around 190,000 miles at the moment. Last weekend my wife and I took
a ride for a couple of hours and the stereo was working fine. The next day
when I went to work, I noticed that I couldn't change the station and the
volume wouldn't go up or down. The stereo works, you can turn it on and off
only. It is "stuck" on the same station and the volume is just right, not too low,
not too high, but you can't change it. None of the buttons seem to work. The
clock is off by about 10 minutes, and I can't fix it. I'm not sure what is going
on. Then the next day someone cut me off and I tried to honk the horn and
noticed that the horn doesn't work. I checked the fuses, they look good.
Could the 2 issues be related, or is it simply a coincidence that both things
are acting up at the same time?
