Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 dodge ram 2500 the transmission is
bad . I bought a 99 1500 transmission to put back
in because transmission shop said they would
interchange . But the one I bought is like 3 inches
longer than one in it. How do I fix this? Truck is a
4x4 automatic.  Thanks

The 2500/3500 series Dodge ram trucks used the 47RH/47RE/48RE Transmission series. You might have been sold an A500/40RH/42RH/42RE/44RE/ Those were used in the 1500 series trucks. The 2500 series especially with the Cummins or V10. Will kill the A500 series trans pretty quickly
