Battery Draining

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Something is draining the battery in my Datsun
1982 280ZX (not turbo). It will start when being
jumped. Runs for a little while. Then car stops and
battery is completely dead when just trying to
start it again w/o jumping it. The battery was
tested and is fine. The starter, distributor and
alternator have been replaced. It was determined
that neither the stereo system nor the alarm
system are contributing to the problem. Having
numerous sensors, could something within this
electrical system be draining the battery? What
could it be?

Take cables off of battery, charge it overnight, get your volt meter and see that it has 12 volts, if not it is battery, if it does put it back in and start it, now check battery at terminals when running. It should have 13.5 to 16v if not it is your alternator. Simple shade tree mechanics.
