Minimum every 12 months but a lot of people will say twice a year. I go by miles. Every 3,000 miles is good.

What oil used during the oil change is a factor in how long one can wait before the next change. Cheap oils should be changed more often vs the higher quality oils. Fully synthetic oils can work a lot longer while standard oil will break down a lot faster.

The time factor has to do with condensation inside the engine. Humid areas are obviously worse than the desert.
