2012 RAM 1500 - FOB stuck in Ignition... WOn't start

Asked by May 04, 2017 at 01:24 PM about the Dodge Ram 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2012 Ram 1500.  Never had a problem until last nigh.  Went to start the truck and nothing happened.  Then when I tried to remove the FOB I can not as it is stuck. There is no power in the cab other than the aux things... cigarette lighter and power lock and unlock.

I tried taking off the negative battery cable for an hour and reconnecting; however, no success.

I tested the battery...  it is registering 12.67 volts...  I've tested fuses that are normally on (when key is removed) and I'm getting a 12.67 reading.

I've taken it to the Dodge dealership; however, I'd like to know what the answer is if anyone has an idea.

I feel it's the anti theft system; however, that is my uninformed opine based on limited 4 hour research.

Thanks
