Overdrive Light Flashing

Asked by Brian Jul 31, 2019 at 08:09 AM about the Ford F-250

Question type: General

I have a 2003 F250 7.3L Diesel.  When I hit 280,000 miles this morning, the Overdrive Light started flashing.  The truck has no problems shifting, transmission temperature is normal, and the transition between gears is smooth.  Also, my transmission oil is full, so I'm confused why I'm getting this warning.  Any thoughts on what this could be?

OD light is sort of a "check engine light" for your transmission. Flashing indicates a transmission problem; it could be a transmission mechanical, hydraulic or electrical in nature. Also, overfilling can cause fluid to foam and this can cause all kinds of symptoms.
