4x4 control module 2005 Ford Explorer xlt location

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had a 2005 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD with 159,000 miles on it gave to me
practically. Well for 1,000 bucks. The guy said the 4 wheel wouldn't work on
it? Well after looking at it this morning. And seeing the fuses the relays under
the hood. then seeing the transfer case and the control motor on the
transmission. there is no doubt it's a 4 wheel drive? Now for the kicker! The
push buttons for the 4wd are not hooked up!! I've looked all inside of the
dash and can not find any wires for it? And I don't know where the control
module is located at? And help and input would be greatly appreciated.
Since I'm not a Ford person to begin with. But I just couldn't pass up this
deal.
