this could be several things, but the most common causes are bad o2 sensors, catalytic converter plugged,or possibly your gas cap is loose or not holding pressure. You can take it to a parts store and they can run a diagnostic on it to read the codes.

It could be several things, but I had this problem too and it was the ERG valve (in a 2.0L DVTD engine, after opening the hood, the valve is just in front of you behind the badget). I had to dissassemble it from the engine and clean it with a spray. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSKs1WfM70I Clean also the Mass air flow sensor, it's easy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4UTvXEfZn4
