2001 Jimmy key us stuck with a fully charged battery

Asked by Aug 29, 2017 at 01:24 PM about the GMC Jimmy

Question type: General

I fully charged my brand new battery, I had
accidentally ran it down. I bought a new battery for
the key and hooked up the battery,  got in the truck
to program it and when it instructed me to turn the
key back it wouldn't. Also, the automatic lock didn't
work with battery hooked up. It's now unhooked
again,  it tested fully charged.  My brother is a
mechanic and has now replaced everything there
is to replace and he's at a loss. When the battery
us good it will start and immediately die like I
turned it off. I did the security key door thing
before I killed the battery and that didn't work. I
had to do it once before when I locked my key in it.
I thought maybe I did it wrong and got the
instructions again. I put the battery in and went to
prigram....after that I was going to try the security
key thing. But I can't get the key out. It's a  2001
gmc Jimmy.
