I lost my keys and had to get a new ignition switch for my 200 Chevy Malibu i changed it out and in the process for some reason my car stereo no longer turns on what do i check

You have to check the fuse to the radio, probably when moving wires around and the ignition switch you shorted out the circuit. Always remove the negative battery cable when doing any electrical work. Did you get your keys programmed to the car then?

Or, if you have a "Theftloc" radio that the lock feature wasn't disabled on before you did the repair you'll need a code to unlock the radio so it will work again. Anytime a Theftloc radio loses power it locks itself to prevent usage if it's stolen. By changing the ignition switch the radio lost power. It probably "thinks" it was being stolen. HTH. -Jim
