2006 Dakota AWD Issue

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey everyone. I have a 06 Dakota 4.7 V8 4x4 R/T edition. One day I was
driving (in AWD mode) and suddenly truck stopped moving. When I switched
to 4x4 everything was fine and truck started to drive. However while in drive
the moment I switched back to AWD the truck stopped moving and I had a
grinding sound under the hood. What I had to do is let the rpm go down then
put it into park. When I put it into park however I get a grinding sound.

I will mention about a month after this happening One day I had a terrible
vibration while driving threw out the truck. I took a look underneath to
investigate and noticed my front drive shaft broke loose in the constant
velocity joint (unjoint) and was just flopping around in the joint. I dispatched
and dropped the front drive shaft and no more vibration and still same issue
(grinding) if I put the truck in AWD. Runs fine in 4x4 mode tho with just power
to the rear wheels.

What's the fix...? I assume if I put a new driveshaft & constant velocity inn
everything will be fine?.... I duno pleeeease help..
