Tailgate & Alarm

Asked by GuruRDG5Z Feb 02, 2020 at 09:38 AM about the 2004 Ford F-150

Question type: General

I have a 2004 Ford F-150 that I purchased used and
has Alarm system which I assume to be factory.
The alarm system had been malfunctioning to
where it sometimes wouldn’t unlock. One morning I
couldn’t get it to deactivate and as per google I did
some kind of alarm reset in order to be able to use
the truck by using the key to manually lock and
unlock. Since that day my tailgate no longer
opened. A few days ago I took it to mechanic for a
different issue and he pressed the unlock on the
alarm fob. I explained what had happened and
asked him not to use the fob to avoid  it l going to a
horn episode again.
But since that day my tail gate now works!
So my question is:
Is the alarm connected or somehow linked to the
lock and unlock feature on the alarm/alarm fob?
