Key wont go into off position

Car will Not go into the
position have to choke
the carburetor to get
the vehicle to shut off

1. Steering wheel is wedged against a curb or some obstruction and putting pressure on the key. Move steering wheel to release it. 2. Automatic shift selector mechanism is misaligned and won't release the key, or the neutral safety switch is defective. 3. Key is damaged. 4. Defect inn thee ignition cylinder obstructing the Off position..... This is an old car and you have to expect things like this to pop up frequently. I have a "66 Impala SS 396 convertible and I'm continually plagued with nuisance repairs.
