1988 bronco 2 w/ a 2.9l efi. Check engine light and paint thinner smell

Asked by Jul 31, 2017 at 02:41 AM about the 1988 Ford Bronco II

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Problems: delayed start, grind type sound, check engine
light comes on periodically with a loss of power,
fluctuations in rpm idle. Goes from around 750 to 5-600ish
kinda keeps reving until i tap accelerator then stops for a
little while. The motor that is in there was freshly swapped
out of my 1990 ford ranger. The complete upper and front
of the motor are new. Less than a year old. Both motors are
2.9l efi ive also noticed a bit of a harder shift. Since the
swap ive replaced the idle control censor as well as the
throttle control censor and pigtails. Any ideas would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced.
