Why is the flexplate weight catching seporator plate

Asked by Sep 13, 2019 at 01:17 PM about the 1984 Ford Bronco

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm putting an aod in my 84 bronco and during
installation as I span the engine over (302) I
noticed the weight of the flexplate was catching
the seporator plate and would cause damage if I
were to attempt starting it i have all of the correct
parts  (50 ounce offset flexplate , aod separator
plate) I've pulled the trans back out and is still
doing it I'm at a dead end and have no idea where
to go from here any advice would be appreciated
