04 Grand Am transmission in a 99 Grand Am SE?

Asked by Jul 02, 2017 at 06:01 PM about the 2004 Pontiac Grand Am

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just wrecked my 2004 Pontiac Grand Am (NOT
and SE), and found a 1999 Grand Am SE that just
needs a transmission. The motor and trans and
everything is just fine in my 04, but can I take the
trans out and put it in the 99 SE? I'm tight on
money and really hope this will work. Also, what
would a mechanic charge to swap the
transmissions? Or could I do it myself?
