Transmission won't engage

My transmission just suddenly started slipping it
has reverse strong it has 2nd gear strong and has
first gear but drive and 3rd gear will not do
anything can I use Lucas or change a solenoid

Sounds like it's already too late, a good tranny shop can hookup and run the standalone test to determine if it is solenoids or if you have control or pressure problems. Additives need a functioning system to work properly so if your missing gears it can't get into those areas to do its job, also they are just temporary fixes, you will need to eventually fix the real problem.
