Trouble shooting injecters catalytic ???

New plugs ,sputters, drops in rpm's stalls.
Heated exhaust muffler and muffler pipe.
Rpms' are good just muffled and spit spit
put put VW beetle.

It's possible that you have an injector problem or lack of proper spark that's causing a misfire. That's sending raw gas into the exhaust where it's burning and causing the exhaust pope and catalytic converter to overheat. You're in danger of losing the converter, and then losing the engine. Get the car to a mechanic to diagnose.
