When fuel gets to half tank, van shut off

97 villager when it gets to half tank it dies,  
add gas and it starts back up

You have a problem in the EVAP system. Could be a charcoal canister flooded with gas, a defective purge valve, or a clogged vent. This is part of the emissions control system and the car will not run right until this is fixed properly.
