my 2002 tribute broke down on a trip and had to leave it behind. runnibg on 4 cylinders and engine light on. they replaced 6 spark plugs and all coils. then the front cat and then the rear cat
So the mechanic replaced the spark plugs and all the coils. still not much power. replaced the front cat on the motor still not much power replaced the rear cat on the motor. at this point they said the car would make the 625 mile trip home. the car barely made it up to 80 mph and within an hour the erg valve blew out the side. The engine light is still on and I use it just around town. What I would like to know is how to get that smell from coming through the air system into the car. I'm considering having the remainder of the cats honed out but will that confuse the computer into making it run rich? I realize its time to let go of the car but its been great up to now and I don't do that much driving. but I also don't want to inhale possible cancer causing agents. Its ironic that all the pollution control stuff that is supposed to be saving us could indeed kill someone.
