Ambient temperature display intermittent

Asked by MBC220 Mar 02, 2020 at 06:51 AM about the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The outside temperature display in my 2014 C220 cdi has developed an intermittent fault. The temperature display changes intermittently to horizontal dashes and soon after the engine check light comes on, but without loss of power or any other adverse side effects. When the temperature display randomly comes back, after two or three restarts, the engine check light goes out. There are zero error messages while this fault is present. I've removed and checked the ambient temperature sensor and it appears to function fine, as the resistance across the two pins changes with temperature change. Any ideas, please? Also, could someone tell me where the thin green/brown wires from the sensor terminate inside the engine compartment? I've traced it to a main loom of wires, but can't find the same wires terminate in any of the connectors I can see.
