I've done this. First thing to do is have the vehicle that you're interested in inspected by a professional inspection company so you know what you're buying. I've used lemonsquad.com with excellent results. The inspection costs about $150. Once you decide on the vehicle to buy contact the dealer and negotiate a price over the telephone. Then send a bank draft in the amount of the agreed upon price. Set up a pick up day and time. Drive or fly out and pick up the vehicle. Drive it home. If you plan on having the vehicle shipped to you, get shipping quotes BEFORE you inspect and decide to buy. I'd suggest sticking to dealing with authorized dealers for a long distance purchase. I bought my '94 Fleetwood from a Chevrolet Dealer in North Carolina and I live in New Jersey. Good luck with your purchase!! HTH. - Jim
