Just wiggle the wheel until the key releases. 2. If this doesn't do it, the car has a shift to key lock that prevents the key from being removed with the gearshift in any position but PARK. Yours is probably worn out. Move the gear selector to the farthest position from PARK, then jam it into PARK. This might be enough to activate a defective mechanism. If this works, get the switch system repaired.
