I replaced the solenoid, and know when I hooked up battery the lites came on with no key in ignition.Saw smoke near alt. I think I screwed up the wires reconnecting new solenoid,.... What do I do no?.

solenoid, but got side tracked
putting it back together one of the
connections is wrong but which
one?

If it is the stater solenoid, it should look something like the pic.
