Key fob

Asked by Apr 19, 2019 at 01:18 PM about the 2005 GMC Envoy

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My key fob is not unlocking my doors. I've changed
the battery a couple of times, the first time it
worked fine for awhile then quit working again, put
another battery in and it still won't work. I've been
told it could be the key relay unit in the door, but no
one has been able to tell me anything more than
that. They don't know what door it would be in, etc.
I've also been told it could be a fuse.

This could be as simple as the car lost the code needed communicate remotely. Have a mechanic or dealer reprogram so the car and the fob can talk to each other. OR if you're somewhat handy, the owners manual (available on line) will show you how: it's really easy.
