If its the Cam timing, there are timing marks on the Camshaft Sprocket and the Crankshaft sprocket. The Ignition timing is set by the PCM. Check that the cam timing is correct and is not a tooth out. Check that you have the correct flywheel for this engine. The earlier PCM engines the crank sensors has 36 minus 1 tooth and the later PCM engines the flywheels have 36 minus 2 teeth for the crank sensors. If your engine has the incorrect flywheel you won't start thee engine.

The ignition timing can't be set as it's done by the computer box. It at preset. The knock senser helps with this.
