Check for debris in the condenser and radiator, you may need to back wash them out with a water hose and nozzle, next make sure the cooling fans are operating properly, if still getting hot then you either have a restricted radiator internally or the impellers on the water pump have been corroded to,the point where they no longer move enough coolant around the system. Make sure you put in a new thermostat, when your done as the computer needs to see a temp change as you drive along or it could turn on the check engine light and go into limp in or low power mode.
