Engine sounds like it's gonna blow

Asked by Jul 17, 2018 at 02:49 AM about the 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My van was starting to use up oil and gas faster
than usual, to the point that it sounded like there
was none and the oil light came on when I was AT
an angle or if I turned, so my friend thought it was
a good idea to get a tune up. What he did was
change the oil, spark plugs wires and coil pack.
After this tho my engine sounded like it was going
to blow up, shaking violently, I have to floor it to get
it up to 20 mph and it takes about 10 seconds to
even get it there. Now I smell something burning
which I assume is oil since he spilled about half a
quart when pouring it in. The burning smell occurs
when the engine warms up. I stopped at advanced
since the cel was on and all he did was clear it,
didn't tell me anything else and when I asked he
said he forgot what it was. I'm scared to drive this
thing, like I said it sounds like it's gonna blow. My
neighbors are mechanics and both of them and
myself checked to make sure the plugs were
connected right and they are. It was NOT like this
before the plug change. I have no idea what to do,
and my neighbors keep telling me they'll fix it but
nothing ever comes of it. Please help!

Vehicle is an 02 dodge grand caravan 3.3L/6 gym
has 98000 miles on it. And again was running fine
before this.
