Battery light on my 04 dodge stratus

Asked by Dec 13, 2017 at 06:38 PM about the 2004 Dodge Stratus

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had my battery tested and it was bad so I go a
new one. After I put it and started it I started to
drive it and got about a quarter of a mile and it
came back on again. Could that be the alternator
or just need to replace the cables or could it be
something else?

A battery light means a charging issue. Have the alternator tested. You can do that by turning the car on and probing the battery with a volt meter, it should read 14V. Anything lower than 13.5V, and you have a problem.
